Srilanka defeated Australia by 4 wickets in a nail biting finish in the third and last T20I match of the 3 match series. However, Australia had already sealed the series having won the first two matches.

Chasing a target of 177 runs, Srilanka were once very far from their destination as they needed 59 runs from last 3 overs. The required run rate was 19.66.

22 runs came from 18th over bowled by Josh Hazlewood while Jhue Richardson conceded 18 runs in the 19th over. Srilanka now needed 19 runs from the last over.

Some brilliant hitting from the bat of Dasun Shanaka and a couple of wide deliveries from Kane Richardson made sure that Srilanka got over the victory line with one ball to spare.

Shanaka was the hero for home side as he blasted an unbeaten 54 from just 25 balls. His match winning knock included 5 fours and 4 sixes.

Earlier, Australia posted 176/5 from 20 overs. David Warner scored 39 at the top of the order while Steve Smith remained unbeaten on a 27 ball 37. Marcus Stoinis made 38 runs from 23 balls.
