Faf du Plessis, Kyle Abbott makes it 4-0 for the Proteas

South Africa beat the world no 1 ranked ODI team, Australia by 6 wickets in the fourth ODI at Port Elizabeth to go up 4-0 in the series. On batting first, Australia managed to score only 167 runs as they were all out in 36.4 overs. Kyle Abbott and Tabraiz Shamsi destroyed the Australian top order as the former took 4 for 40 and 3 for 36 respectively, finding the right line and length to trouble the Aussies batsmen. Mitchell Marsh and Matthew Wade played well and they both got out after scoring half-centuries. They both put on a partnership of 52 runs. In reply, South Africa successfully chased the target and Faf du Plessis was the top scorer for the Proteas who got out after scoring 69 runs. RR Rossouw and F Behardien was not out in 33 from 45 balls and 12 from 14 balls respectively while CP Tremain took 2 wickets and Adam Zampa and MR Marsh took 1 wicket each.

It was a complete allround performance from the Proteas and Kyle Abbott was adjudged the man of the match for his 4-40 in his first match of the series.

The hosts are now set for a whitewash in the series and the fifth and final ODI is on 12 of October at Newlands, Cape Town.
