Amla, Tahir guide South Africa to a victory over Srilanka

South Africa defeated Sri Lanka by 96 runs in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 Group-B match opener at Oval on Saturday. Hasim Amla shined with the bat as he scored yet another ODI century while Man of the Match Imran Tahir bagged 4 wickets to ensure a victory for South Africa.

South Africa were put into bat after Srilanka won the toss earlier the day.South Africa posted a challenging total of 299 runs from their 50 overs. 145 run partnership between Hasim Amla and Faf Du Plesis got South Africa going after Quinton De Kock was out for 23. AB De Villiers(4) and David Miller(18)couldn't contribute much while JP Duminy remained unbeaten on 38 runs off 20 balls with 5 fours and a six. Nuwan Pradeep was the pick of the bowlers for Srilanka as he picked up 2 wickets.

Srilanka's reply started well with Niroshan Dickwella(41) and Upul Tharanga(57) at the top. Srilanka was in the game until Tahir came in and showed his class with the ball in his hand. Tahir finished with the figures of 4-27. Chris Morris picked up 2 wickets while Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada shared a wicket each.
