Kushal Malla is a big-hitting middle-order batter and a slow left-arm spinner who represents Nepal's new-age fearless brand of cricket. He was only 15 when he made his T20I debut and a few days later, he became the youngest male cricketer to score an ODI half-century (15 years and 340 days). Malla also briefly held the record for the fastest hundred in T20I history, off 34 balls against Mongolia, in 2023.
A child prodigy who would hit sixes for fun in school cricket, Malla made his T20I debut, against Singapore, in September 2019. Five months later, on ODI debut, he scored a run-a-ball fifty less in a win USA. Alongside Dipendra Singh Airee, Malla has made a name for himself as Nepal's finisher-in-chief, especially T20Is.
He had a purple patch during a two-month period in 2023 culminating in his maiden ODI hundred, scoring 423 runs in 12 matches.
His 137 off 50 balls against Mongolia in the Asian Games was a record for a Nepal batter while his 193-run stand with Rohit Paudel broke the world record for the third wicket.
Malla is more than a decent bowler and is often called upon to roll his arm over in ODIs and T20Is. He was a key part of Nepal's ODI World Cup Qualifier campaign in 2023 and the 2024 T20 World Cup.
He has played the Nepal Premier League and was picked up by Desert Vipers for the 2025 ILT20 as a replacement player, although he did not get a game.
