Aaron Jones grew up playing alongside Shai Hope and Jason Holder and against Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell. He scored a half-century for Barbados on his first-class debut in 2017. But in 2018, Jones, who was born in New York, switched to playing for USA and quickly became a mainstay of the side. His maiden List A century, against Namibia in the WCL Division 2 in 2019, helped USA earn the side ODI status during that competition.
He scored his first ODI hundred three years later - 123 not out off 87 balls against Scotland.
But his most memorable innings came in 2024 when he made an unbeaten 94 off 40 balls in the opening game of the T20 World Cup to give USA a thumping win over Canada. A few months later, he starred in St Lucia Kings' maiden CPL title win. Having barely played in the tournament till then, he scored 48 not out off 31 balls to finish off a low-scoring chase on a challenging Guyana surface.
