India registered a 15 run victory over England in the second ODI of the 3 match series at Cuttack on Wednesday. The comeback man Yuvraj Singh and the former captain MS Dhoni shined in India's win while they put on 256 run stand for the fourth wicket as India posted a huge total of 381/6 after England won the toss and invited India to bat first.
Yuvraj Singh scored 150(127) with 21 fours and 3 sixes whereas Dhoni scored 134(122) with 10 fours and 6 sixes in his innings. The most experienced batting pair in Indian lineup at the moment, Yuvraj and Dhoni rescued India from 25/3 to 281/4 when Yuvraj got out just after reaching 150 run mark. Chris Woakes was the pick of the bowlers for England with the figures of 60/4 in his 10 overs. Plunkett picked up 2 wickets.
In reply, England looked good with Jason Roy's 82 and Root's 54. As England lost Roy, Stokes and Butler, India came back in the match. But English skipper Eoin Morgan and allrounder Moen Ali revived the hopes of England as Morgan scored century and Ali scored a half century. Eventually, England fell short by 15 runs and India captured the series with the win. Ashwin once again was amongst wickets as he picked up 3 wickets.
Yuvraj Singh was awarded Man of the Match for his brilliant 150 that helped India post a huge score on the board. India are now 2-0 up in the 3 match series and have won the series with still one match to go.
