U19 WC Qualifier: Nepal beat Malaysia by 5 wickets
July 24, 2017 | SportsGuff Team 1.3K ReadsNepal defeated Malaysia by 5 wickets in the fifth match of ICC Asia U19 World Cup Qualfier on Monday. Captain Sandeep Lamichhane was the star with the ball once again for Nepal as he picked up 7 wickets and finished with the figures of 7-13.
Having won the toss, Nepal elected to field first. Malaysia managed 89 runs from 35.1 overs in first innings. Skipper Sandeep bagged 7 wickets while Sahab Alam and RIjan Dhakal picked up 2 and 1 wicket respectively.
Nepal in reply, chased down the target of 90 runs at the loss of five wickets. Rohit Kumar Poudel was the top scorer for Nepal with unbeaten 34 runs. Nepal had lost 5 wickets for 40 runs but an unbeaten 52 runs partnership between Rohit and Dipendra Singh Airee guided Nepal to victory.
Nepal is placed at second position in points table with a match to play against the top team Afghanistan. Afghanistan is the only undefeated team in this tournament and is at the top of points table with 10 points. Nepal will face Afghanistan in the last match of the tournament.
