Srilanka defeat Australia by 4 runs to win series

Chasing a winning target of 259 for victory, Australia were all out for 254 from 50 overs. Australian opener David Warner was dismissed for 99 off 112 balls with 12 fours.

Australia needed 19 runs in the last six balls to win. The game became more interesting when Matthew Kuhnemann hit fours off the second, fourth and fifth balls to captain Dasun Shanka. With five runs needed to win from the final ball, Kuhnemann was caught by Aslanka and Srilanka won the series at home after three decades.
Aaron Finch (0), Mitchell Marsh (26), Marnus Labusen (14), Alex Carey (19), Travis Head (27) and Glenn Maxwell (1) could not trouble the scorers much. Australia were 190-5 in 36 overs at a time when they needed 69 runs in 14 overs to win.
In the second ball of the 37th over, Glenn Maxwell was lbw to Maheesh Theekshana. In the next over, Australia got into trouble after Warner was stumped out off Dhananjaya de Silva. Sri Lanka's Chamika Karunaratne, Dhananjay de Silva and Jeffrey Wandersey picked up 2 wickets each.
Earlier, Srilanka were bowled out for 258 in 49 overs after losing the toss at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Sri Lanka's Charith Asalanka hit 110 off 106 balls with 10 fours and a six. This is Aslanka's maiden international century.
Sri Lanka did not start well. Openers Niroshan Dickwella (1), Pathum Nissanka (13) and Kushal Mendis (14) were all out, leaving Sri Lanka 34-3 in 9.5 overs. Aslanka and Dhananjay de Silva shared 101 runs for the fourth wicket.
Silva was dismissed for 60 off 61 balls with seven boundaries. Australia's Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins and Matthew Kuhnemann took 2 wickets each.
Australia had won the first match by two wickets (D/L Method). Sri Lanka won the second match by 26 runs (D/L Method) and the third match by 6 wickets. The fifth and final game will be played on Friday.
