Nepali left-arm spinner Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi had injured his right shoulder while fielding in a warm up match played at the TU International Cricket Ground. He was immediately transported to the National Hospital, Kalanki for immediate treatment. However, the injury seemed serious and he was admitted to B&B Hospital where he had to undergo a surgery.

It has been mentioned that Rajbanshi has sustained a fracture to his Closed Right Clavicle which makes him ruled out for the Asian Games held in China and a doubt for Asian Region World Cup Qualifiers too. It has been communicated to the doctor to try their best to make him available and fit for the WC Qualifiers that is to be held in Nepal.

Lalit Rajbanshi is a key spinner and a very economical bowler for Nepal. With his absency in the tournament, the team has suffered a vital blow. However, another left-arm spinner who had made an international debut for Nepal on 11 February 2022 against Oman, Sagar Dhakal has been called up as a replacement for Lalit Rajbanshi.

Sagar Dhakal has taken 1 wicket in T20Is in his two international appearances and 4 wickets in ODIs in eight matches. He had impressive performances in the previous Everest Premier League (EPL) season for Chitwan Tigers whichis the defending champions of the latest edition of EPL in 2021. He also played for Lumbini All Stars in the recently organized Nepal Premier League (NPL).

Moving onto the domestic performance, Dhakal took 20 wickets in 13 matches with an economy of 5.82 for Chitwan Tigers repectively. Similarly, he took 11 wickets in 7 matches with an economy of 6.32 for Lumbini All Stars in the NPL first edition. He has also played in other domestic teams like Nepal Police Club and played for Bagmati Province.
