PNG (Papua New Guinea) has beaten Namibia on both the matches in ICC World Cricket League Championship. With this win PNG has climbed to the top of the league table.

Namibia visited PNG to play two matches of the fourth round of the championship. Namibia lost both of their matches. The Namibian side lost by 5 wickets on Friday and by 6 wickets on Sunday. Chasing the target of 213 set by visiting side on Sunday, the home side comfortably got over the line with 12 balls to spare.

Vani Morea scored 67, the highest score for the home side whereas captain Asad Vala looked in good touch, scoring 55 runs. Sese Bau contributed to the score board scoring unbeaten 40 runs.

Before this, Namibia were all out for 212 runs playing 50 overs. Nicolaas Scholtz score the highest 61 runs for his team. Opener Stephan Baard scored 54 runs for Namibia but rest of the batsmen failed to support him. Norman Vanua and Willie Gavera both took 3 wickets each for PNG.

After winning both of their matches, PNG has climbed to top of the table with 12 points. They have won 6 matches and lost 2 out of 8 matches. Netherlands drop down to second position only behind PNG on Net run rate. Netherlands has lost only 1 match till now. They have won 5 matches and have shared the points on 2 of their games.

Scotland sits on third position winning 4 matches and sharing the points on 3 of their 8 matches losing 1 on the process. They have 11 points to their account. Hong Kong have 9 points from their 6 matches. They will face Kenya on November, who currently sits fifth on the points table with 6 points. With that game in November, the fourth round of the championship concludes.

Nepal's way to World Cup looks difficult.

Nepal currently sits sixth on the points table playing 8 matches. Nepal has tasted 3 wins and 5 losses so far. Kenya playing only 6 matches also have 6 points but they have superior Net run rate than Nepal. The top four sides of the Championship will get a chance to feature in ICC World Cup Qualifiers in 2018 to be held in England.

With the current scenario, it looks difficult for Nepal to finish within top four. Nepal have 6 games remaining in the tournament. Nepal will play two matches each against Hong Kong, Kenya and UAE. UAE sits bottom of the table currently but Hong Kong and Kenya are above Nepal on the points table.

Nepal defeated Namibia on both of its matches. Nepal won one and lost one against Netherlands. PNG and Scotland both beat Nepal on both of their matches. To qualify for the world cup qualifiers, Nepal must not only win all of their remaining matches but also must depend on the results of other teams.
