Nepal lose to USA by 39 runs

Despite a century partnership between Arif Sheikh and Sompal Kami, Nepal lost to USA in the World Cup League-2 Cricket match on Wednesday. USA defeated Nepal by 39 runs at Musa Cricket Ground.

Though Arif and Sompal shared 106 runs for the sixth wicket, Nepal lost the last 5 wickets for 8 runs. Nepal were bowled out for 206 in 47.4 overs chasing a target of 246 runs for win.

Ali Khan and Saurabh Netravalkar picked up 3 wickets each to restrict Nepal. Aarif and Sompal's partnership was broken by Netravalkar. Aarif was dismissed for 63 in the 45th over, after which Netravalkar bowled Karan KC (1) and captain Sandeep Lamichhane (0).

Nepal did not start well. Kushal Bhurtel was out for 10 and Aasif Sheikh for 18. Vice-captain Rohit Poudel, who hit a six soon after coming to the crease, was dismissed for 19 runs. Dev Khanal's run out was unfortunate for Nepal. He scored 34 runs in 47 balls with 2 fours and 1 six. Aarif and Sompal pulled the Nepali innings after Dipendra Singh Airee was dismissed for 7 runs.

Arif scored 63 runs to complete his second half century of the tour. He hit 3 fours in 76 balls. Sompal added 47 runs off 72 balls with one boundary.
