Lalitpur Patriots start with 7 wicket victory over Kathmandu Kings

Lalitpur Patriots defeated Kathmandu Kings XI by 7 wickets in the first match of Everest Premier League (EPL) on Monday. Lalitpur chased down a target of 90 runs from 16.4 overs with 7 wickets in hand.

After winning the toss, Lalitpur elected to field first at TU Ground, Kirtipur. Opener Amit Shrestha was the top scorer for Kathmandu Kings in their first innings with 27 runs. Sagar Pun (4), Naresh Budhayer (0), Farveez Maharoof (7) and Raju Rijal (0) were out cheaplyAkshu Fernando scored 15 runs. Sompal Kami scored 14 runs as Kathmandu were allout for 89 runs in 18.3 overs. Suboth Bhati was the pick of the bowlers for Lalitpur as he finished with the figures of 4-15.

Lalitpur in reply lost opener Pawan Sarraf for a duck. Gyanendra Malla (20) andJaykishan Kolsawala(44*) added 54 runs for the second wicket before Gyanendra was leg before wicket to Fernando.Yogesh Nagar was caught by Naresh Budhayer off Fernando while Rajbir Singh remained unbeaten on 14 runs.Akshu Fernando picked up 2 wickets for Kathmandu while Sompal bagged a wicket.
